Spanish bicycle market drops for the second year in a row

MADRID, Spain - The mismatch between supply and demand has hit the Spanish bicycle industry very hard. Significant stockpiling has been taking place at both distributors and stores. This situation has not been balanced out yet as the 2023 market statistics show. Still, the Spanish industry association AMBE who presented the market data is still confident about the future market. AMBE also noted that 2024 will still be a difficult year for the industry.

Bicycle production in Spain much higher than pre-corona

MADRID, Spain - Bicycle manufacturing in Spain was well on track last year. Official statistics show a decrease in 2023 compared with 2022. However, at the close of the year, it became immediately evident that 2023 was a very good year for the Spanish bicycle industry.

Urban bicycles and e-bikes take the lead in Spain

MADRID, Spain - After two record-breaking years, the Spanish bicycle industry closed 2022 with a downward readjustment in sales and turnover, but very positive figures for employment and national production. Some 1.357 million bicycles were sold last year, 13.6% less than in 2021.

Spain reports drastic change in bicycle production volumes

MADRID, Spain - The value of bicycle production in Spain increased by 8.8% to €126.4 million in the first half of this year. In this period, a total of 171,218 bicycles were manufactured, representing a growth of 4.1% compared to the same period of 2021. However, the provisional figures from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism show big monthly differences.

Spanish e-bike sales in 2021 exceed previous year's record

MADRID, Spain - The hike in e-bike sales in 2020 was not a one-off as last year's sales record shows. According to the latest statistics published by the national bicycle industry organisation AMBE, e-bike sales volume increased by 5.3% in 2021.

“What we see happening in Spain is in line with the rest of European markets,” said AMBE’s President Javier López
